Your guide to using the calibration feature

Overview:
A calibration activity helps align student grading with how you would grade, improving your student's grading accuracy.
For any finalized activity, a student's overall creation score is the weighted average of each peer evaluator's score on their creation, multiplied by the peer evaluator's grading score. The grading score reflects the quality of the grading skill of that student.
The students' grading powers are calibrated through the calibration feature. A professor will review and evaluate three creations of a previously finalized activity, or attach sample creations. Students will then evaluate the same three creations, where their evaluations will be compared to the evaluations provided by the professor.
Through the calibration activity, only the students' grading power may change depending on how close the grades they gave are to the professor's grade. This will be reflected in the number of stars students have on their icons.
It is best to conduct calibrations at the start of the term. You can create a calibration activity after you have finalized your first activity, so you can use your students' creations. To do this up, simply click on "Create Activity." Then select "Calibration".
Under the "Apply calibration to" section, you will see two options. If you select Past Activity, you must use a previously finalized activity from any of your courses.
You can select your students' creations from these activities or create new sample creations using the same activity instructions and details.
